Suspended time

Ecole de Danse de l'Opéra de Paris, 2013.

There is something so beautiful, so unique in this pic... Suspended time... These young dancers are dancing and flying for ever... Amazing scene... There is no more gravity... Levitation...

All these boys are so beautiful, cute and perfect... But their individual beauty is nothing in comparison of their beauty as a group... Just perfection... Each of them plays his part in the whole picture... The beauty of each of them is a part of the beauty of the group...

The most moving for me is the amount of work, energy and dreams these young students in one of the best Dance school in the world devote to their performance...

Just perfection... Just look at the face expressions, at the smiles, at hands and fingers, at the way these boys jump and interact together...

This is one of the most moving pics I ever posted on this blog... Mere beauty... Youth at its best... Perfection and ideal of young male beauty... And just what youth and art can create...

I feel so much moved by this pic, and I am so sorry I missed this ballet at the Opera and its broadcast on the ARTE TV channel. If any of my visitors has a copy of this broadcast, I would be infinitely grateful if he was kind enough to share it with me...

Looking at this pic, I can almost hear the music these boys danced with... It was Rameau's Les Indes Galantes...  Baroque music at its peak...

I think this video of La danse des sauvages by Rameau is the best soundtrack for this sublime pic....

  1. Aaaah, c'est dommage!!!
I've seen it on arte - and kept the recording for several months, but some weeks ago I deleted it! I was shure to find it on youtube, but it has been deleted there too.
But in case you don't know it yet, I STRONGLY recommend the documentation "De l'élève à l'artiste" 18 parts on youtube in HD - so awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Another tip: if you watch it on youtube, download it with the Firefox add-on "DownloadHelper" as mp4, save it on a usb flash-drive and watch it on the biggest tv screen available! Believe me, this documentation is a keeper! ;)

  3. Thanks, David, for your two comments. Yes, I know the documentary movies "De l'élève à l'artiste" and the original series "Graines d'étoiles" produced by ARTE... And I use Downloadhelper too, a great Firefox extension...
